Shawano Lodge Donations to the Community

45 Turkeys were donated to the Shawano Safe Park Food Pantry and Safe Haven for the Holidays

as part of the on-going mission of Shawano Masons Inc. a 501(C)3

Past Master Edward “Rusty”Mitchell of Shawano Lodge 170 is delivering the turkeys Nov. 11 2011,

to Don Warner of Safe Park as Shawano Masons Charities continue to help family’s in need.

$25,000 was donated to the Shawano Medical Centers Heart Rehab Center in the late 70’s or early 80’s. – Several members of Shawano Lodge started the Wisconsin Masonic Foundation with this donation to Shawano Hospital. The Foundation has since gone on to donate Millions of dollars in matching funds throughout the State for various projects and items.

1998 –$50,000 raised and given to the Shawano Area Fire Department to purchase 2 Thermal Imaging Cameras for the purpose of locating bodies within a fire. This also spearheaded fundraising drives throughout the State from other Lodges to do the same thing. Of course Shawano Lodge was at the front leading the way.

1982 to Present – Shawano Lodge has donated $134,000 in High School Scholarships within Shawano County. For the past 15 years,we have given at least one $1000.00 scholarship to each High School in Shawano County to include Bonduel,Bowler,Gresham,Shawano,Tigerton,and Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

In the late 1990’s Shawano Lodge donated $5000.00 to the 3 Pillars Retirement Center in Dousman. This is a Public retirement village owned and operated by the Wisconsin Masonic Home Board. Money was donated at a time of renovation and addition of a rehab center.

2000 to 2009,Shawano Masonic Lodge along with matching funds from the Wisconsin Masonic Foundation has donated Automated External Defibrillators to Shawano high School,Lincoln Elementary School,Olga Brenner Elementary School,Shawano Middle School,Neopit School,Keshena High School,and most recently the Crawford Center in Shawano. Each one of these units is $1500.00 ea. With these units,they have already saved the life of 2 students. One an elementary student in Neopit that went into Defib,and the second was saved at Shawano High School in 2008. According to his doctors,he most certainly would have died had the AED not been used.

For the past several years around the Thanksgiving Holiday,Shawano Masonic Lodge has donated nearly 50 turkeys each year to SAFEPARC food pantry and resource center of Shawano to be distributed to needy families in the area.

Shawano Masonic Lodge #170 currently sits at 96 members.

Shawano Lodge donated $400 to the Wisconsin Extension Service,of which a local Homemakers Club is affiliated,to continue a reading program for underprivileged children. Without the donation the program would have folded.

Shawano Lodge continues to donate funds for the Chemical Free high school graduation parties held throughout the local school districts.

Shawano Lodge continues to donate funds to the youth soccer leagues and little league baseball.

In the most recent past Shawano Lodge has put on a Christmas program for children at the Crawford Community Center.

2009 Shawano Lodge donated $2,000.00 for a bench with the logo “We Hold Them In Our Hearts” at Woodlawn cemetery for pregnancies that do not reach full term and also $600.00 in 2010,to place grave stones to mark those sites,with plans to continue this project each year.

Shawano Lodge has donated many books to the Library through the years

Masonic Home Board with the help of the Shawano Masons purchased camp Tivoli for $415,000 Shawano Masons contributed $160,000.
