Dear Brothers and Sisters in Masonry:
The Master’s Message:
2012
In my Master’s Message for the Trestle Board last year, I
expounded upon an attitude I called “Being Masonic.” I tried to point out that “we,” as Masons,
should try to maintain an open mind regarding the world around us, our attitude
toward our fellow citizens, our family commitments and our Masonic
relationships. Trying to balance all of
these commitments can be stressful, to say the least, but it is part of our
everyday lives. Hopefully after your
family responsibilities,Masonry claims a high priority in your world.
This last year has been a year of major change for our Lodge.
We are moving forward with the renovation of
the Lodge Room part of our new building.
To that end, many hours of volunteer labor have been donated to the
cause and the once wide open space is being transformed into what will be a
very workable Lodge room and related facilities.
The attitude that I have seen displayed by
the Brothers who have stepped forward to physically assist with this project is
truly an example of what I have termed,“Being Masonic.”
It is exciting and gratifying to see the
progress and the dedication of the Brothers who have taken on this task.
All interior framing has been
completed;furnaces have been installed;plumbing has been roughed in; and the
electrical work will be finished about the time this Trestle Board hits the
mail. Sheet rock work will be underway
soon! Brother Tim Jones is our “Master
Builder” directing us “Entered Apprentices” to get the job done.
I would encourage anyone with computer access
to look at our website (http://www.shawanomasons.com/)
to see photos of the progress. Brother
Treasurer GeorgeTincher has been taking photos during this entire project and
posting updated photos on the website.
Check it out if you have access; you will be amazed!
Better yet, stop by the Lodge building any
weekend when you see cars and trucks parked out front.
That means we are at work.
Several other Lodges and Masonic organizations have placed
their trust in us via monetary contributions which we have put to good use.
Even after the basic Lodge facilities are
finished and we have taken up occupancy of our new building,
we will have an ongoing wish list for upgrading and improving
the Lodge building and grounds. We have scheduled at least four
fund raisers for the coming year to assist with the financing of this extensive
building project. Any contributions from our Lodge members and
Masonic friends would be warmly received and appreciated.
Our formal Lodge dedication has been scheduled for
Thursday, August 2, 2012 at our new building. In conjunction with our
Masonic Unity picnic, the Right Worshipful Deputy Grand Master Dennis Siewert
and other Grand Lodge officers will be in attendance for this special event.
Please put this date on your calendar and
help us celebrate this important milestone for our Lodge.
There has never been a more important time for “Being Masonic”
than it is right now. Step up and be counted,in whatever
way works best for you. Whether it is swinging a hammer,
flipping a burger at Charlie’s or writing a check,your
contribution will be greatly appreciated.
“Being Masonic.” Think about it.
See you in Lodge.
